Top 4 Queenstown Activities

Surrounded by snowy peaks, a sparkling lake, and a charming town that glows at night, Queenstown is a destination everyone should experience at least once. Known as New Zealand’s adventure capital, there’s something here for everyone – whether you’re chasing thrills, looking to unwind, or just want to take in the scenery.
Having visited 4+ times, here are my top 4 must-do activities:
AJ Hackett Bungy
For the adrenaline junkies out there: this one’s for you! Queenstown is home to 3 AJ Hackett sites – the Ledge Bungy beneath Skyline Queenstown, the Kawerau Bungy over the Shotover river and the Nevis Bungy which is the highest bungy jump in New Zealand at 134m (over 90m higher that the lowest bungy).
I jumped off the Kawarau Bridge on a study trip, and the Nevis Swing on a friends getaway, and it’s still one of my most unforgettable experiences. If bungy’s been on your bucket list like it was on mine, this is the place to do it.
🎢 Go big or go Nevis.

Skyline Gondola & Luge
Looking for a taste of adventure alongside picture perfect views? Take the Skyline Gondola up to the top of Bobs Peak, then race down on the Luge for an epic Queenstown combo. You’ll be blown away by panoramic views across the Queenstown landscape, surrounded by the Remarkables, Coronet Peak, Walter and Cecil Peak, and the shimmering lake below.
💡 Pro tip: Head up at sunset for seriously swoon-worthy photos (proposal-worthy, even 😉).
🍽 Pair it with dinner at Stratosfare Restaurant and dessert from the Jelly Belly store for the full experience.

Onsen Hot Pools
Need to relax after your action packed, adrenaline fuelled day of adventures? Soak in 60 minutes of bliss relaxation and breath-taking views at the Onsen Hot Pools. Located on the cliffside overlooking the Shotover River are these private and luxurious hot pools. Operating in all weather conditions, be it snowy, rainy or sunny – these pools are always magical. If this is not already on your bucket list I would highly recommend adding it as this is an experience not to be missed.

ADD SOME ADRENALINE: SHOTOVER RIVER JET BOATING TOURS
Smash it & Odyssey Sensory Maze
For something a little different (and indoors!), check out these two fun spots:
Smash It Room – One of my favourite unexpected finds on my last trip to Queenstown. The weather was gloomy, and we were killing time before our flight when we stumbled across this gem. After suiting up in protective gear, you’re taken into a small brick room, handed a “weapon,” and given 15 minutes to smash glass, plates, and anything else in sight. It’s chaotic, satisfying, and surprisingly therapeutic – the perfect way to blow off some steam!
*Sadly it looks like this is now permanently closed, but you can find a similar one in Christchurch!*

Odyssey Sensory Maze – For something a bit less hostile you can embark on a quirky, multi-sensory journey through mazes, illusions, lighting effects, and fun obstacles. It’s a short 20–30 minute experience, but totally worth the trip.
This is just a glimpse into what Queenstown has to offer – there’s so much more waiting for you here. Let me know if you’ve tried any of these or have other favourites to recommend!
